Avoiding Costly ERP Migrations in the Ethanol Industry

Microsoft's announcement of Dynamics GP end-of-support timelines beginning in 2029 has raised concerns in the ethanol industry, but Greenstone assures CINCH and Intellego users they can maintain operational stability without forced migrations.

For many industrial organizations, ERP software is deeply connected to day-to-day operations. In the ethanol industry, accounting platforms often tie directly into scale systems, commodity settlements, inventory tracking, loadout processes, and plant reporting.

That’s why recent conversations surrounding Microsoft Dynamics GP support timelines have raised important questions across the industry:

  • Will existing systems continue to work?
  • Are facilities being forced into ERP migrations?
  • What happens to integrated scale and operational software?
  • How should organizations plan for long-term support?

For ethanol producers using Intellego or CINCH, the answer is far less disruptive than many initially feared.

The Real Cost of ERP Migration

ERP migrations are rarely simple software upgrades. In industrial environments, they often involve:

  • Rebuilding operational workflows
  • Replacing integrations
  • Retraining accounting and operations teams
  • Revalidating reporting and settlement processes
  • Updating scale and automation interfaces
  • Managing operational downtime risk

In some cases, organizations begin evaluating migration options years before any actual transition occurs.

While modernization may eventually make sense for some businesses, rushed decisions driven by generalized “end of support” messaging can create unnecessary cost and operational disruption.

For many ethanol facilities, maintaining stable operations while planning strategically is the more practical approach.

Understanding the Dynamics GP Timeline

Microsoft has announced end of support timelines beginning in 2029 for Dynamics GP.

Just as importantly, businesses across many industries continue using Dynamics GP past official support timelines with help from experienced partners and trusted third-party providers.

Greenstone is fully prepared to continue supporting CINCH/Intellego customers in the future while helping customers evaluate long-term plans at the appropriate time.

What This Means for Intellego and CINCH Users

CINCH and Intellego are the same solution.

For years, Beyond sold a white-labeled version of Greenstone’s CINCH platform under the Intellego name. While the name differed, the software itself has always been the same and developed by Greenstone.

Greenstone and Beyond are no longer operating under that white-label relationship. Going forward, Greenstone will directly support customers using the CINCH platform.

Some customers have expressed concern that they may need to repurchase software licenses or move to a different platform. However, existing Intellego licenses remain valid.

Intellego customers retain their software licenses. Customers can continue using their existing software and work directly with Greenstone through a maintenance and support agreement for ongoing service and assistance.

In many cases, working directly with Greenstone may also reduce overall support costs.

Operational Stability Matters

Industrial software decisions are rarely just IT decisions.

For ethanol producers, ERP and operational systems are tied closely to production efficiency, accounting accuracy, grain procurement, settlement processes, and plant logistics.

That’s why many organizations prioritize:

  • Protecting existing investments
  • Avoiding unnecessary disruption
  • Extending the useful life of proven systems
  • Planning modernization strategically rather than reactively

Facilities currently using oneWeigh will continue to be supported, and customers using other scale or automation systems are not required to replace them.

Organizations interested in future operational improvements or automation upgrades can evaluate those opportunities over time, but no immediate changes are required.

Committed to Ethanol Customers

Greenstone remains committed to supporting ethanol organizations with:

  • Ongoing software support
  • Operational continuity
  • Protection of existing investments
  • Long-term planning assistance

Our goal is simple: provide stability, transparency, and a clear path forward for customers using CINCH and Intellego. To learn more about support options, maintenance agreements, or future planning for your CINCH/Intellego software, contact the Greenstone team.
